5'11" middleweight Christina Hammer
was born on August 16 1990 in Novodolinka, Kazakhstan but she is now a
German citizen. Her pro boxing career is promoted by SES
Boxing. After a 22-fight amateur career
she made her pro debut at age 19 on September 12, 2009 at the
Gewerbehof Schlutius in Magdeburg, Germany. She weighed in at 154
lbs and won by a second-round TKO over Melisa Kokter (152¾
lbs) of Germany, also making her pro debut. (Kokter has
not fought since). On October 24, 2009 at Anhalt
Arena in Dessau, Sachsen-Anhalt, Germany, Christina (162¼ lbs) won
by a four-round unanimous decision over Sarka Stoklaskova (5′ 8½″, 163
lbs) of Brno, Czech Republic, who fell to 2-8 (1 KO) with the loss. [Video 1] [Video 2] On
November 11, 2009 at EKZ Arena in Schoneweide, Berlin, Germany,
Christina (160¼ lbs) won by a fourth-round TKO over Marija
Pejakovic (5′ 11½", 159¾ lbs) of Senta, Serbia, who fell to 2-1 (0
KO's) with the loss. On April 9, 2010 at
Tivoli Arena in Ljubljana, Slovenia, Christina (152¾ lbs) TKO'd
Danijele Bickei (143¾ lbs) of Kanjiza, Serbia in the fourth round of a
scheduled six-rounder. Bickei fell to 0-6 with the loss. [Video] On April 17, 2010 at Bordelandhalle in Magdeburg, Christina (159¾ lbs) TKO'd Patricia Braesick (155¾
lbs) of Karlsruhe, Germany at 1:01 in the second round of scheduled
six-rounder. Braesick fell to 0-2 and has not boxed since. On June 4, 2010 at the outdoor Landesgartenschau
in Aschersleben, Sachsen-Anhalt, Germany, Christina (154 lbs)
knocked out previously undefeated 22-year-old Marie Reiderer (146½ lbs)
of Weisswasser, Germany at 1:23 in the fifth round of a scheduled
six-rounder. Hammer controlled the early action from the outside
with her jab and dropped a tiring Reiderer with two hard rights to the
head for the KO. Reiderer, who normally fights as a junior
welterweight, fell to 5-1 (2 KO's) with the loss. [Video 1] [Video 2]  On
September 4, 2011 at the Sportpark Arena in Ljubljana, Slovenia,
Christina (159¼ lbs) TKO'd 23-year-old Mihaela Dragan (158¼ lbs)
of Cluj-Napoca,
Romania in the second round of a scheduled six-rounder. Dragan lacked
the ring skills and movement to handle Hammer's height and reach
and was in trouble from the opening bell. Dragan went to the
canvas briefly in the first round after taking a right to the back of
her head while partially turned away from the action. Dragan was warned
for turning away again in the second round and the referee stopped the
unequal fight when she covered up and did not fight back against a
flurry of punches from Hammer. Dragan fell to 3-3 (2 KO's) with

October 23, 2010 at Erdgas Arena in Riesa, Sachsen, Germany,
Christina (157 lbs) stepped up her level of competition and won a
ten-round unanimous (98-92,97-93,97-93) decision over Teresa Perozzi
(157¾ lbs) of Warwick, Bermuda for the vacant WBO Middleweight title.
The shorter southpaw Perozzi began the fight by applying a lot of
pressure and setting a fast pace forcing Hammer to think more
about defense than in her earlier fights. The action was even at first
but Hammer began to score repeatedly to the head of Perozzi in the
later rounds. Perozzi kept trying to press her attack but
Hammer's right delivered the better shots in a fight that often looked
closer than the scorecards suggested. Perozzi fell to
7-4-1 (1 KO) with the loss, while the 20-year-old Hammer became the

On February 18, 2011 at Sportpark Arena in Ljubljana,
Slovenia, Christina (158¼ lbs) added the vacant WBF Middleweight title
to her belt collection when Diana Kiss (157¾ lbs) of Hungary
retired in her corner between the seventh and eighth rounds of a
scheduled ten-rounder. Hammer started aggressively
and used her reach to control the action. In the second half of the
fight Hammer increased the pressure and Kiss began to bleed from
her nose. During the round break Diana Kiss signaled to her
trainer that she was no longer willing to continue, so Hammer won
by a TKO. Kiss fell to 6-3-1 (5 KO's) with the loss. [Video 1] [Video 2]

On
May 27, 2011 at Zlatopramen Arena in Usti Nad Labem, Czech Republic,
Christina (157¾ lbs) defended the WBO and
WBF Middleweight
titles with a ten-round unanimous decision over undefeated Maria Lindberg (154½
lbs) of Sweden. Lindberg told WBAN later that she felt the fight
was much closer than the
official scores (97-93,97-93,98-92 for Hammer). Lindberg fell to 5-1-2 (1 KO) with her first pro loss.
 On October 21, 2011 at the Brandenburg Halle in
Frankfurt, Brandenburg, Germany, Christina (157¾ lbs) won a
ten-round unanimous (100-90,100-90,99-91) decision over 30-year-old
Vashon Living (158¼ lbs) of Houston, Texas defending the WBO and WBF
Middleweight titles. Living,
who was at a significant size disadvantage, was mobile and agile as she
attempted to get to close quarters and work inside, but Hammer was still able to use her
reach advantage to control the action. Hammer landed two accurate uppercuts in the seventh and Living appeared to be worn down by the taller Hammer's blows in the
closing rounds. Living fell to 5-2 (1 KO) with the loss

On April 5, 2012 at
the Vodova Arena in Brno, Czech Republic, Christina Hammer (159¼ lbs) won a ten-round unanimous (100-90,100-90,99-91) decision over Julie Tshabalala (159¼ lbs) of Johannesburg, South Africa defending the WBF and WBO Middleweight titles. According to a WBF press release, the reigning champion had the upper hand from the start of the fight. Tshabalala took the fight to the inside to try to avoid the German's long range
attack but Hammer adjusted nicely and
countered with hooks and uppercuts. Tshabalala had her best
moments in rounds six and seven and seemed to be catching her
second wind, but Hammer was back on top in the final three
rounds, making Tshabalala miss and pay for her mistakes. Hammer
improved her record to 12-0 (7 KO's) while Tshabalala dropped to 4-2-1
(1 KO). Hammer's
boxing style is patient and methodical. She often uses her
reach to
establish her jab early in a fight then wears her opponents
down with increasingly aggressive followup rights. Her usual fight
plan exploits her conditioning
and her ability to control a bout from the outside to chop away
at opponents from long range.
