5′ 5½″ welterweight Fernanda Soledad "La Camionera" Alegre was born on February 25, 1987 in Ramos Mejia, Buenos Aires, Argentina. She comes from a boxing family and was influenced to begin boxing as a teenager by her father Luis. She had watched him training when she was 9 years old and began to add boxing bag work to her own training in gymnastics. After her brother Louis became a professional boxer, Fernanda was hooked on the sport.  Her father asked her if she wanted to fight and she began to compete at age 15.

She fought 26 times as an amateur before she turned professional in 2009.  Her pro boxing career has been supported by the Teamsters Union of Argentina, hence her nickname "La Camionera".

She made her professional debut at Estadio F.A.B. in Buenos Aires, Argentina on June 27, 2009, weighing in at 149¼ lbs and winning a four-round unanimous (40-38,40-36½,40-37) decision over 31-year-old Monica Galeano (144½ lbs), another pro debuter from Buenos Aires.

On October 11, 2009 at Estadio F.A.B. in Buenos Aires, Fernanda (146¾ lbs) lost a four-round split (39-39½,39½-38,39-39) decision to Eliana Lencina (153½ lbs), another pro debuter from San Lorenzo, Santa Fe, Argentina.

On November 13, 2009 at Club Atletico Huracan in Buenos Aires, Fernanda (144½ lbs) TKO'd Etel Cristina Arano (143¾ lbs) of Buenos Aires at 1:06 of the third round of a scheduled four-rounder. Arano fell to 1-6 (0 KO's) and has not fought since.

On January 23, 2010 at Club Once Unidos in Mar del Plata, Buenos Aires, Fernanda (150¾ lbs) won a scheduled four-rounder with 29-year-old pro debuter Eliana Elizabeth Gamboa (153¼ lbs) of Nequeun, Argentina when Gamboa retired at 0:59 in the second round.  Gamboa has not fought since.

On March 6, 2010 at Club Union y Progreso in Tandil, Buenos Aires, Fernanda (145 lbs) won a scheduled six-rounder by a third round TKO over 26-year-old pro debuter Jeniffer (Natalie) Faccio Cardozo (144¾ lbs) of Salto, Uruguay.  Faccio took a standing count in a corner near the end of the second round and her corner threw in the rowel at 0:47 in the third as she continued to take punishment to the head. On April 17, 2010 at Casino City Center in Rosario, Santa Fe, Argentina, Fernanda (142 lbs) used her punching speed and aggression to win a clear (59½-54½,60-54½,60-55) six-round unanimous decision over Paula Munoz (140¾ lbs) of Nequeun, Argentina who fell to 1-2-1 (0 KO's).

On May 22, 2010 at Casino City Center in Rosario, Santa Fe, Argentina, Fernanda (139¼ lbs) TKO'd previously undefeated Victoriana Britez (135¼ lbs) of Lambare, Paraguay at 1:28 of the first round of a scheduled sixer, after Britez received two standing counts.  Britez fell to 3-1-2 (0 KO's) with the loss.

On July 23, 2010 at the Parque Municipal Eva Perón in Lomas de Zamora, Buenos Aires, Fernanda (139 lbs) won the vacant Argentina Junior Welterweight title with a ten-round unanimous (98-95,99½-94,99½-94)  decision over Roxana Laborde (137½ lbs) of Buenos Aires who fell to 3-3-2 (0 KO's).

On October 23, 2010 at Escuela Técnica Nº 1, Salto Argentino in Buenos Aires, Fernanda (140½ lbs) fought to a split (56½-58½,60-56,58-58) draw over six rounds with Juliana De Aguiar (139¾ lbs) of Rio Negrinho, Santa Catarina, Brazil. The scoring appeared generous to De Aguiar, who had an advantage in height and reach over Alegre but fought most of the match backing up and took a standing eight count in the final round.  De Aguiar moved her record to 4-4-1 (3 KO's). On December 3, 2010 at the Parque Municipal Eva Perón in Lomas de Zamora, Buenos Aires, Fernanda (140 lbs) won a clear ten-round unanimous (99-91,96-93,97-92) decision over 23-year-old Michelle Bonassoli (140 lbs) of Garapuaba, Brazil for the inaugural WBO Junior Welterweight title.  Bonassoli fell to 9-5 (8 KO's) with the loss. On March 11, 2011 at Ce.De.M. N° 2, Caseros, Buenos Aires, Fernanda (138½ lbs) successfully defended the WBO Junior Welterweight title when Diana Ayala ( 137¼ lbs) of San Pelayo, Colombia retired at the start of the sixth round of the scheduled ten-rounder.  Ayala, who had been to the canvas in the fourth, fell to 9-5-3 ( 5 KO's) with the loss.  [Video]

ALegre vs Lima Da SilvaOn June 24, 2011 at Ce.De.M. N° 2, Caseros, Buenos Aires, Fernanda (138¼ lbs) again defended the WBO Junior Welterweight title, this time with a ten-round unanimous (98-91,99-91,99-91) decision over previously undefeated Silvana Lima da Silva (138¼ lbs) of Diadema, Brazil. Lima Da Silva fell to 6-1 (3 KO's) with the loss.  [Video]

Alegre vs PachecoOn September 20, 2011 at Ce.De.M. N° 2, Caseros, Buenos Aires, Fernanda Alegre (137½ lbs) defended the WBO Junior Welterweight title with a ten-round unanimous (98-93,99-91,99-91) decision over previously undefeated Enis Pacheco (5'3", 137¼ lbs) of Puerto Escondido, Colombia.  Alegre seized the intiative and controlled the action  from the start of the fight, putting Pacheco on defense for most of the ten-rounder.  Pacheco fell to 8-1 (7 KO's) with this loss.   [Video rds 1 to 4][Video rds 6 to 10]

On December 17, 2011 at Parque Municipal Eva Perón, Lomas de Zamora, Buenos Aires, Fernande Alegre (137¼ lbs) won a ten-round unanimous (97-93,97-93,98-94) decision over Chris Namús (139¾ lbs) of Montivideo, Uruguay defending the WBO Junior Welterweight title. Namús took the initiative early in the fight but was unable to prevent Alegre from getting inside where she is most effective.  Alegre used her speed, precision and superior conditioning to wear Namús down later in the fight, bloodyng her nose in the middle rounds and frequently scoring with volleys of punches that ended with solid rights to the head of Namús .Alegre paced herself well through the closing rounds and never looked hurt by Namús's punches. Namús, a former WBC interim champion, fell to 16-2 (7 KO's). [Video]

On April 7, 2012 at Club Atlético y Social Villa Calzada in Rafael Calzada, Buenos Aires, Argentina. Fernanda Alegre won a ten-round unanimous (96-93,97-92,95-94) decision over Chris Namús of Uruguay in a rematch for the WBO Junior Welterweight title.  The fight was closer than their first meeting. Alegre was cut on her right eyelid while Namús suffered a large bruise and swelling over her left eye. Namús came on stronger in the later rounds and forced Alegre to move and defend more as the fight progressed but there were no knockdowns or clearly decisive rounds as both bixers stood their ground and at times landed solidly. Namús, who had a point deducted in the sixth round for low blows, left the ring in frustration after the judges' scores were announced for Alegre.  The fight was broadcast by TyC Sports, which scored the bout 98-93 for Namús, disagreeing strongly with the judges, who were from Brazil (96-93 for Alegre), Chile (97-92 for Alegre) and Argentina (95-94 for Alegre). Alegre improved to 13-1-1 (5 KO's) while Namús dropped to 16-3 (7 KO's).  [Video]

According to Notifight.com. the fight was postponed from March 23 after Alegre sustained a tendon strain in her right shoulder during training; the injury forced Alegre to take several days off to rest and have swelling treated by massage and physiotherapy.   Namús reportedly talked of "breaking Alegre's head", but Alegre was reluctant to get into a war of words with her opponent, stating that "words are gone with the wind" and "the truth is seen in the ring."

Alegre applies intense pressure to her opponents by getting in to close quarters to punish them with fast paced combinations.  She is at her best when she takes boxers out of their comfort zone at longer distances and forces them to engage at short range. In interviews with Argentinian media, she has said she wants to fight Monica Acosta Siris of Colombia and Miriam Lamare of France to unify the WBO, WBC, WBA and WIBF titles.
