6 ft 0½ in junior middleweight boxer Karolina Lukasik was born on 1 July 1982 in Warsaw, Poland.  She was interested in sports from her early childhood and she attended many different sport activities from the first class at elementary school.

Lukasik's adventure in sports started with swimming, to which she was . dedicated for two years. When she was 9 years old she began to train in acrobatic gymnastics at Targówek in Warsaw. She fell in love with gymnastics at the beginning of her training but after four years she had to end her career in the sport as she became too tall to achieve full success.

In 1999 when Lukasik was in Warsaw SKRA for about six months, while in secondary school she enrolled in a kickboxing class and enjoyed the training. No one needed to persuade her to do this!

Although she had never trained to fight, Lukasik had been exposed to in-house boxing everyday.  Her older brother,  Bartłomiej, coached boxing and kick boxing with many successes and her father is also a great lover of boxing. She began her career in Poland as a kickboxing trainer as in those years there was no women's boxing in Poland.  After two years coaching kickboxing, she started as an amateur boxer.

In 2001,  as a representative of the Legia Warsaw club, she became the Polish champion and was on the National Team. She continued in both boxing and kickboxing and had successes such as:

• multiple Champion of Poland in boxing and kick-boxing,
• 1999 vice Champion of World in kick-boxing,
• 2001 Champion of Europe in kick-boxing,
• 2003 vice Champion in amateur boxing,
• 2003 Champion of World in kick-boxing,
• 2005 Champion of World in kick-boxing

At the 3rd European Women's Championships held in Riccione, Italy, Karolina won a bronze medal in the 70-kg division, which was won that year by Olga Slavinskaya of Russia.

On February 20, 2005 she won the Polish National championship at 70-kg by a walkover over Magdalena Wygrabek.

On May 14, 2005 at the 4th European Women's Championships held in Tonsberg, Norway, Karolina won the 70-kg division with a 29-5 decision over Siren Siraas of Norway. On September 29 2005 at the AIBA World Women's Championships in Podolsk, Russia, Lukasik lost by a 27-10 margin to eventual gold medalist Olga Slavinskaya of Russia in the 70-kg quarterfinal.

In 2006 at the suggestion of Krzysztof Kosedowski's coach, she decided to leave for Hamburg, Germany to try her hand at professional boxing. She signed a contract with one of the best professional groups in Europe - Universum Box Promotion - in February 2006.

She made her debut at URM Erlebnis City in Oranienburg, Germany on March 25, 2006, weighing in at 154 lbs and winning a four-round unanimous decision over fellow debuter Miroslava Durinova (5′ 9½″, 147¾ lbs) of Piestany, Slovakia.
