BIANCA "LA GATITA" LEDEZMA
Bianca first walked into a boxing gym on May 8, 2002. Her father Emilio
Ledezma an retired boxer from 1973-1986 worked with Bianca for two
months prior to walking into the gym. Just months before, Emilio had
purchased some boxing gloves and mitts and was asked by Bianca's mom what
"those" were for. Emilio smiled and said, "you never know."
NOT knowing that the equipment would be for their little girl (Bianca), as
originally purchased for Bianca's little brother.
Emilio told WBAN that "Bianca is a natural". He went on to say
proudly that he has worked with many boxers, and that Bianca is a quick
learner.
Bianca would like to turn pro, but due to her age (She is 15 years old)
she has to wait. Bianca said that in the amateurs, there is not a lot of
girls with boxing techniques.
Bianca is presently
10-3-0 (6KO) as an amateur. Her two out of three losses were close
decisions according to Emilio, that could have gone either way, but that
her loss against Angelina Razo was not disputed.
Emilio told WBAN, "Bianca stood toe to toe with Razo when all she had to
do was box. Bianca was disappointed with the outcome of the State Silver
Gloves Championship with Connie Alcala. The 3 losses have been State Title
Championships."
Bianca's goal in the sport is to
fulfill what her father
was not able to do; due to an injury and an early retirement. She
wants to become a World Champion.
